Dancing Seniors in Silesia

09. 03. 2021

Coronavirus pandemic affected the possibility to work on social initiatives in a physical way. However some of our senior participants managed to meet personally and develop their idea.

Coronavirus causes severe and acute respiratory issues to most of the infected people and poses a particular threat to senior persons. It has been confirmed by the scientist and is reflected in the statistics. It also causes deficiencies in the well-being and limits normal functioning of cured people after the covid-19 illness. Senior people participating in project operations in Silesia invented an effective and efficient response to such problems! It is obvious, that the side effect of the illness is lower respiratory efficiency, lower stamina and some mobility issues, but it may be securely, easily and quickly solved by controlled and tailor-made trainings.

One group of our participants proposed and designed a programme of dancing activities which will be exercised in a small under the supervision of the coach who will continuously monitor the progress and safety of the activity. It will help the people affected by covid-19 recover their full respiratory capabilities, increase their mobility and rebuild their social networks. After months of forced isolation, quarantines and recovery, it is very likely that the people acquire some anxieties and loosen their social contacts. This social initiative will help them rejuvenate their contacts, rebuild their relations with other people and start to live normally again.

It combines mental and physical rehabilitation, improves coordination of movement and creates intergenerational links, as the coaches are supposed to be younger persons. Due to safety reasons and administrative limits, the groups will consist of 4 participants per coach, so that the limit of 5 persons in one place will not be exceeded.
